Welcome to the website for Church Lane Health Centre. We hope that you find this website provides clear and concise information that you may require, in an easy and convenient format.
Due to a national shortage of blood test tubes we are currently only able to request urgent blood tests. Any routine blood tests will need to be postponed for at least 2 weeks. If you have a blood test appointment booked, we may be in contact if your appointment is not urgent.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Telephoning the Practice
To save you waiting in a queue when you telephone us; we now have the facility to be able to call you back automatically once you near the front of the queue removing the need for you to wait to get through to us. Please note that the call back service will not work if you are calling from a withheld number or have Call Guardian enabled.
**OUR COVID VACCINATION SITE HAS MOVED**
We have now moved our vaccination site from Lydd Airport to Church Lane Surgery, Church Lane, New Romney, as the airport needs to prepare to open as restrictions allow. We delivered over 17,500 vaccinations from the airport between 20 January and the end of May and cannot thank the staff there enough for their support. Without the use of this facility, we would not have been able to achieve this for our patients
This Saturday (5 June) both the Surgery and the Old School House will be vaccinating all day so the area will be very busy. To help keep congestion to a minimum could you please
* Attend your appointment alone and at the allotted time, please DO NOT come early.
* Be prepared to queue outside. It will be warm so please dress appropriately and bring some water
* Get dropped off or walk to your appointment if possible
* If you do drive please respect our neighbours and use the local car parks
Our colleagues at the Marsh Academy, Station Road, New Romney have kindly offered us parking on a Saturday to minimise congestion. This is just a 10 minute walk via Church Road to the Practice.
We apologise in advance to our neighbours. We will co-ordinate vaccination sessions with our colleagues at the Old School in future to try and avoid vaccinating on the same day.
COVID-19 VACCINATION PROGRAM
The practices in the Romney Marsh area are pleased to confirm that NHS England have agreed the application for Covid-19 vaccinations for our patients to be delivered from Lydd Airport (main terminal building) from 20 January 2021.
Practices are working together and with voluntary partners to invite patients for vaccination based on the national priority list. There will be home visits for housebound patients. We would ask you to be patient and wait to be contacted about when the vaccine is available for you.
You do not need to contact the surgery until you receive a text or phone call options about getting the Covid-19 vaccine.
Our phone lines are very busy; please help us to keep lines open for people needing to make appointments for other health matters.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you have questions about the vaccine please read the information below.
Why is the vaccine not available from our own surgery?
Across the country GPs are working in groups of practices to provide the Covid-19 vaccine. We understand the people would like to get the vaccine from their own practice but unfortunately this is not possible at this time. If this changes we will update this information.
Should I come for a vaccine if I have symptoms of Covid-19?
No. If you or someone in your immediate household has symptoms of the virus it is essential that you self-isolate and book a test. Your vaccine can be re-arranged after your self-isolation.
If I’ve had Covid-19 do I need the vaccines?
Yes, getting vaccinated is just as important for those who have already had Covid-19 as it is for those who haven’t.
How soon after having Covid-19 can I have the vaccine?
It is recommended that people wait 4 weeks after recovering from Covid-19 or from being tested positive but not experiencing symptoms. We will rearrange invitations if you are in this situation when first invited to have the vaccine.
When will the second dose be given?
From 30 December the national guidance changed and second doses will now be scheduled for 10-12 weeks after the first dose.
Can I pay for the vaccines privately?
No, all Covid-19 vaccines are being provided free by the NHS. If you see any offers to get the vaccine privately it will be scam and you must not contact them.
